🧳🇲🇦 Morocco welcomed 15.7 million tourists by the end of September 2026, up 5% year on year with over 717,000 additional arrivals, the Ministry of Tourism says. September alone topped 1.5 million (+8%). Target: 26 million by 2030. #Tourism #Morocco #Maroc #المغرب

Morocco welcomed 15.7 million tourists in the first nine months of 2026, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy announced on Thursday, October 8. That is 5% more than in the same period of 2025, or more than 717,000 additional arrivals. September did better than the year's average: more than 1.5 million visitors, up 8% on September 2025.

The figure extends an already busy summer. At the end of August the count stood at 14.1 million arrivals (+4.5%), and August had passed the 2 million mark for the first time. Receipts are following: according to the Office des changes, travel receipts reached 79 billion dirhams at the end of July 2026, up 13.4% year on year. Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said the momentum of Moroccan tourism is continuing and that its long-term potential remains considerable.

The open question is where the year will end. In 2025 Morocco finished with 19.8 million tourists, a level never reached before according to the ministry, so it needs about 4.1 million arrivals between October and December to match it. The official target lies further ahead: 26 million tourists in 2030, a goal the minister describes as "closer than ever". The last quarter includes several travel periods, among them the autumn school holidays in Europe, from October 17 in France, and the year-end holidays.
