The Atlas Lions made it two wins from two in AFCON 2027 qualifying. On Tuesday, September 29, at the Free State Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa, Morocco beat Lesotho 2-0 on Matchday 2 of Group A. Brahim Díaz opened the scoring just before half-time, and Azzedine Ounahi doubled the lead in the 82nd minute from a Soufiane Rahimi pass. Four days after the 2-0 win over Gabon in Rabat, Mohamed Ouahbi rotated his squad, starting Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, Zakaria El Ouahdi and Oussama Targhalline among others; Achraf Hakimi, back from suspension, began on the bench.

The one concern: Noussair Mazraoui, who scored against Gabon, went off injured in the second half and was replaced by Hakimi. By the end of the match, no official update had been given on the nature of his injury. In the group's other game, Gabon beat Niger 2-0 (Effaghe 53', Bouanga 77'). Morocco have 6 points, ahead of Gabon and Niger (3 each) and Lesotho (0). The top two in the group qualify for AFCON 2027, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The friendly against Ghana planned for Sunday, October 4 in Tangier will not go ahead: the Ghana Football Association has confirmed its cancellation without officially giving a reason. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation is looking for another opponent for the same date.
